FROM INSPIRATION TO MONUMENT CERAMONY
Custom-building monumental structures is a process of milestones or, more aptly, a wealth of discoveries. Each step is a galvanizing achievement, a source of great joy for the owner and professional pride for Field of Reeds architects and engineers. It all begins with an inspiration, your vision of a monument as individual as you. There are no limits during this initial, creative phase: all thoughts and wishes are welcome. The architect and Field of Reeds experts will work with you to give form to your dreams. Although many aspects remain open to revision in later development phases, final approval of the design means physical construction of your monument can begin.
PYRAMIDION'S
Now that designing and building has been approved construction can begin. Following tradition dating back to the pharaohs of Egypt, a ceremony takes place to mark the commission of the pyramid. A pyramidion --- the capstone that sits atop the apex of a pyramid --- is offered to the owner of the monument. According to ancient lore this brings safe working conditions and good fortune to the building effort and symbolizes timeless longevity of the monument.
THE CORNER STONE
The first tangible step in the monument building process; placing the first stone, is an occasion of great excitement accompanied by ceremony. The joyful event takes place directly on site of your monument plot, usually before the eyes of the owner and project team. Here the first stone is aligned and set into place giving a foundation for the greater structure. From this point on, the construction of your monument takes shape on a step-by-step basis.
CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES
The development of a Field of Reeds monument involves hundreds of highly skilled and qualified technicians and engineers, each specializing in different disciplines. These including masonry professionals and other forms of stoneworker as well as structural engineers. Using block construction methods, entire segments of the superstructure are built. Throughout the multiyear development process, we work closely with the owner and their representatives providing important details and updates of the project's progression.
